Beats N Pieces – July 2012

Special thanks to everyone who helped, participated, shared, promoted, ate, drank, danced and enjoyed their time at Beats N Pieces. With much hard work, success and fun definitely took place last weekend. Thanks to mother nature and a ridiculous heat wave, I am grateful for not passing out during set up. HAHA.

Thanks to NASA Cru for bringing color to the night with a live mural, as well as artwork in the gallery, all the DJ’s… Rhettmatic, LA JAE, DJ Eclektic and DJ MZA, all the live artists, and all the artists presenting their work at the show, SINO Tequila for their yummyness. Beats N Pieces – Rhettmatic

5PM – 2AM = DJ’S ALL DAY AND LIVE ART FROM BEGINNING TO END

This time we have an EVEN BIGGER line up of DJ’s and Artists for you. There will be a LIVE graffiti mural being done on the side of the events building. Don’t worry, it’s legal and pre-approved by the owner, we do things right haha courtesty of NASA Crew.

OPEN floor break session from 7pm-9pm with beats by DJ Eclektic of San Diego and LA’s own feet mover, DJ MZA. We have Rhettmatic spinning prime time as well.

Live paintings being done by Konfusion and Proto1 of Collective Aesthetics. This venue is 3 times the size of our previous location at Senor Fish. Don’t miss our drink specials. … thanks to your shirt, some old man at my gym stared at my boobs for an hour trying to figure out how to read “BOB A FRESH” (that’s how he mouthed it) on the shirt. Thanks to Tiny for the VERY SICK design that went on that shirt, and shouts to everyone involved. AS ALWAYS… big shouts to the amazing artists of NASA Crew for submitting and blowing me away every time.

Pins N Pieces Feb. 2 – Lucky Strike

Beats N Pieces brings you a special night of art, music, FREE BOWLING (need I say more?), and connections all in one place. Lucky Strike in Orange will be hosting our “Pins N Pieces” night to help support a young man named Rob Strawder (MC Bobafresh). We would really appreciate the support and/or donations for this night. Artwork is for sale, NASA Crew is in the spot along with a gang of Beats N Pieces artists. In true BNP form we will have special edition artist pieces for sale. You DEFINITELY want to see what they’ve come up with this time. All proceeds go to www.robstrawder.org

What about Rob?

L.A. native and San Francisco transplant, Rob aka MC Bobafresh is known to family, friends and fans as a charismatic hip hop lyricist. Having worked with some notable bay area underground hip hop artists and producers, he has built a grassroots following utilizing his intelligent wordplay and adding in his social commentary and love for sci-fi. His day hours were spent helping underprivileged youth at a local community center as a counselor. In early December, he was a victim of an accidental apartment fire, which destroyed his home and all of his possessions. Fortunately his life was spared, but he is now dealing with 3rd degree burns over 70% of his body and has a long road to recovery ahead of him.

I love this night! I mean, I really can’t say it enough. The collaborations of artists amazes me each time and it continues to get better with talent and creation. The NASA crew collab piece this time around was beyond my imagination. Special guests and artists from around the way put together one of the biggest murals BNP has seen so far. Thank you to everyone who supported and participated.
